In the beginning
The Coll family decided to break into the real estate sector in the 1980s and planned for their business to take on the form of an affordable housing group dedicated to changing the lives of people in various parts of the Americas. The family decided to invite Luis Enrique Coll to join the fledgling business in a move which the Senior Executive President of Alco International Group admits he had to think twice about amid his own fears of the business not proving a success.
Now a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Coll initially balked at the idea of joining a real estate business run through his own family as he felt the idea would be difficult to complete in a successful way. In an interview with Inspirey, Coll looked back at the humble beginnings of the company in Venezuela where he and his family began creating affordable housing which would carry the Alco International Group name. Understanding his role in the company would be important led to Coll joining the business but he now admits he often struggled to stay patient as the company took a number of years to become profitable in Venezuela before a move to the U.S. ensued.
Remaining true to Alco International’s roots
The Alco International Group under the leadership of Luis Enrique has remained true to its roots as a developer of affordable housing alongside its more prestigious developments such as the Adagio Fort Lauderdale development. The ground was broken on the development in late 2017 with more than 30 percent of the residencies sold prior to the groundbreaking ceremony taking place on one of the most important and anticipated developments in Fort Lauderdale.
Despite the creation of impressive developments such as Adagio in Florida, the Coll family headed by Luis Enrique has also remained true to the initial promise of the brand to supply affordable housing for families across North and Central America. In Panama and Venezuela, Alco International continues to create affordable housing developments aimed at creating positive environments for families to grow within a caring and loving community.
Florida becomes home
Despite the fact the company was created with an eye on creating affordable communities in Panama and Venezuela, Luis Enrique Coll explained he has found the markets in Fort Lauderdale, Florida perfect for the needs of his company. The family business is flourishing in Florida where the luxury real estate markets of Fort Lauderdale have lent themselves perfectly to the ideas and philosophy of the company, according to Coll.
“We are hoping to expand even further into Florida but we are currently looking to create a dedicated client base for our apartments at Adagio Fort Lauderdale.” Explains the Alco International SEP. “Breaking ground on this apartment complex was an important moment for us as we have already completed one luxury real estate complex at Adagio on the Bay and hope to complete the DoubleTree Fort Lauderdale Airport hotel.”
Coll himself now calls Fort Lauderdale home and hopes his own example will draw in many different residents to the luxury real estate properties the brand has already opened and those which are planned.
Making the most of the opportunity
Coll believes his choice to remain with Alco International Group was an important one as he was given the opportunity to leave the family-owned business and work for other employers early in his career. Although he would not push himself forward in such a way it is fair to say Luis Enrique has grown to become the pivotal figure in the development of the Alco International Group Empire which takes in many different types of real estate and hospitality opportunities.
The opportunity to take part in the Alco International Group’s development and growth from Venezuela and Panama into one of the most competitive real estate markets in the world. Making a success of the move into Florida will push Coll into the upper echelons of the luxury real estate sector which many believe is where he already belongs.
